Verbs
A verb is a word that describes an action. Verbs are often called ‘doing’ words.
Adjectives
An adjective is a word that describes a noun. In Latin, an adjective agrees with the noun it describes in gender, number and case.
Adverbs
An adverb is a word that describes a verb. Latin adverbs do not decline. They do not affect the case of other words.
Prepositions
In Latin, a preposition is a word which goes in front of and determines the case of a noun.
Pronouns
A pronoun is a word that stands in for a noun. It gives a useful reminder of the person or thing being discussed, with its gender, number and case.
